How do I connect my phone to my Fire TV?

First enable Settings → My Fire TV → Developer options → ADB debugging on the Fire TV. Then open EveryMote on the same Wi-Fi, tap the device, and accept the authorisation prompt shown on the TV. Without that setting the app can only launch apps, not move the D-pad.

Worth knowing

Without ADB debugging enabled, Fire TV only accepts app-launch commands — so the app can open Netflix but the arrows will not move. That is Amazon’s restriction, not a bug, and enabling the setting above is the fix.
